NY NEW LEBANON — New Lebanon walkable downtown committee rejects additional grant application. The Walkable Downtown Committee reached consensus on January 27 to reject pursuing a second Transportation Alternatives Program grant for its downtown corridor project. Committee member Tistrya Houghtling presented the situation: while the committee had previously recommended upgrading the corridor from stone dust to asphalt at $300,000 with a $60,000 town match, the TAP program's $500,000 federal minimum would have required an additional $125,000 town match.

To stay within budget constraints, the committee will have consulting firm Creighton Manning evaluate cost options for the asphalt upgrade, with recommendations to the Town Board scheduled for March 10.
