NY NEW LEBANON — Town Board resolves four ethics complaints and adopts military marriage fee waiver. Interim Supervisor Margaret Robertson and Councilmembers Kevin Smith Sr., Jesse Newton, and Norman Rasmussen voted on four ethics complaint decisions (matters #2019-1 through #2019-4); Rasmussen abstained from each because he was identified as the victim in all four, while the other three voted in favor. Town Attorney Jon Tingley emphasized fairness concerns about an alleged victim serving as a decision-maker.

The board unanimously adopted Resolution 28, 2019, waiving marriage certificate fees for active duty members of the U.S. armed forces or their spouses, consistent with state legislation signed by Governor Cuomo. The waiver gives the town discretion to eliminate those local fees.
