NY NEW LEBANON — Town Board deadlocks on rail trail property recommendation. Supervisor Colleen Teal and Councilmember Norman Rasmussen voted to support the Corkscrew Rail Trail's bid to purchase the property at 16 Lover's Lane, while Councilmembers Kevin Smith Sr. and Jesse Newton opposed it in a 2-2 tie vote. The property faces foreclosure by Columbia County for approximately $600 in unpaid taxes and is burdened by wetland restrictions and insufficient road frontage.
Rather than hold a second vote, the board forwarded the minutes and extensive public correspondence to the county government committee for their final decision.
