NY NEW LEBANON — Shaker Preservation Committee advances design standards and demolition rules. The New Lebanon committee, led by Chair Winfried Fuchshofen, voted 6-1 to retain "should" rather than "shall" in site design standards and accepted the January 24 demolition application proposal as written. Merrill Hesch will revise the standards to address air conditioning units, historic renovation, and building reconstruction.
The committee is exploring town demolition law and conservation easements or land trusts to preserve open space, with design standards completion targeted for the end of May.
