NY NEW LEBANON — New Lebanon Conservation Advisory Council prioritizes environmental protection areas. The June 10 meeting brought attention to a Darrow School proposal to convert two large hayfields into commercial solar arrays. CAC member Cynthia Creech reported that the Zoning Board cautioned use variances are seldom granted and the fields lie outside authorized commercial zones.
The council expressed concern about wildlife migration impacts and identified critical environmental areas including aquifers, unfragmented forests, cool ravines, riparian corridors, and hedge rows as worthy of special protection.
