NY NEW LEBANON — New Lebanon walkable downtown project moves forward with resubmitted state grant pending DOT funding match. The Walkable Downtown Committee reviewed the Town Board's March 12 resubmission of a Transportation Alternatives Program grant, which proposes concrete sidewalks and narrowed travel lanes to support traffic calming. The project aims to reduce travel lane width to 11 feet, addressing an 85th percentile traffic speed of 47 mph in a 40-mph zone.
The town's $500,000 bond remains the maximum municipal contribution, with the New York State Department of Transportation indicating it may supplement funding. Project scope may expand to include Shatford Park extension, pending DOT environmental review.
