Climate Smart Communities advances state-funded charger and grants

NY NEW LEBANON — Climate Smart Communities Task Force reports progress on environmental initiatives and state funding. The task force reported accumulating 9,700 Climate Smart Communities certification points, with $250,000 in state funding allocated for Community Center upgrades and an EV charger installation now underway. Battery recycling has reached 1,301 pounds with 100 more pounds scheduled for cleanup day, while plastic recycling has collected 1,120 pounds since launch.

The walkable downtown project advanced with a signed Department of Transportation agreement, and the engineer's contract is set for signing following the next Town Board meeting.
