CAC advances conservation easement work with Canaan

misc · Meeting of June 10, 2026

NY NEW LEBANON — Community advisory committee advances Bog and Knob conservation easement; water testing seeks funding. The CAC is moving forward on conservation easement agreements for three property owners: Gerety and Moore, Rattoballi, and Resnick, with Canaan Supervisor Brenda Adams handling contact with the Canaan resident. Bruce Shenker will research previous agreements as models, and Gretchen Stephens has offered to review proposed agreements.

The committee is also advancing a Drinking Water Source Protection Phase 2 initiative with possible free sampling from the state and interest from Earth Justice, though committee members are running low on funds for testing and exploring state financial assistance.
